Qanon

https://www.nytimes.com/article/what-is-qanon.html

This article is a great starting point for information on Qanon, as it is updated regularly and gives a great explanation of the core beliefs of the conspiracy group. One of the more fascinating sections of the article is when the author gives an example of a "Q drop" which has been the main method by which the titular "Q" gives his top secret information to his followers.

Below is a copy of the Q drop from the article:

PANIC IN DC

[LL] talking = TRUTH reveal TARMAC [BC]?

[LL] talking = TRUTH reveal COMEY HRC EMAIL CASE?

[LL] talking = TRUTH reveal HUSSEIN instructions re: HRC EMAIL CASE?

[LL] talking = TRUTH reveal BRENNAN NO NAME COORD TO FRAME POTUS?……………..FISA = START

FISA BRINGS DOWN THE HOUSE.WHEN DO BIRDS SING?

Q

The article goes on to explain what the various acronyms mean and its a great lesson in understanding such a confusing position.

Now, you might be wondering what exactly Qanon believes in, which can vary from week to week as it is an ongoing conspiracy. Overall, Qanon states that there is a secret group of satanic pedophiles which is plotting against former president Donald Trump, and that this secret cabal will be ousted from their seats of power in an event known as The Storm. Of course, every single one of Q's predictions about this storm, which seems to rock back and forth between being a metaphorical storm of "justice" and being a literal storm which will cause a nationwide blackout, has failed to come to fruition. Despite this, many Q believers still hold strong that one of these predictions will come to pass eventually.

Of course the rapid growth of Q during the pandemic came to a head when massive crowds of Trump supporters, including Qanon members, stormed the Capitol on January 6th. Vast amounts of disinformation and false claims of election fraud, covered by a thin veil of being "reasonably skeptical of our election security" led to the deaths of 5 people and proved the dangers of misinformation.

This video showcases interviews with various Qanon supports shortly after a rally for former president Donald Trump. You'll notice that many supporters have different views of the true enemy. Some supporters mention that people are being controlled by the CIA, while others believe prominent democrats are controlling the country. Paradoxically, they also believe that Donald Trump is in control and has somehow bested this invincible system in order to become president. An important thing to note is the trend of those interviewed in this video to counter the claim that they lack evidence simply by reciprocating that the person asking the question has no evidence that Q does not exist. Of course, this shows the poor foundation that the theory is built upon.

Adolf Hitler

Dylan Merrill ENG-200 Hitler Did Not Die in 1945 Hilter was a feared leader of the Nazi party located in Germany. The big conspiracy  around Hitler is that he never actually committed suicide in 1945 like scientists and government officials claim. Some evidence points to Argentina to a place where Hitler could have possibly escaped and held up for a while. Hitler seemed to be a man with endless resources back in the day so I believe that this is very possible. With my research on this topic I plan to dive into connections Hitler had to people in South America and examine the evidence that was put out in 2017 by the CIA regarding a Nazi safe house found in an Argentina jungle along with leftover medicine and other personal Nazi Belongings. I also want to look into if any locals have claims about seeing someone resembling Hitler or if maybe he change his whole appearance because of how worldwide known he was. I would like to be able

The 9/11 Conspiracy

The 9/11 Conspiracy By: Quentin Caruso     The one question many Americans have asked each other is, "Where were you on 9/11?".  The attacks of September 11th, 2001 where multiple coordinated attacks happened. It was the morning of September 11th, 2001 when four flights departed from Boston's Logan International Airport. These flights were headed towards the West Coast. It is suspected that Al-Qaeda, hijacked and crashed flights, United Airlines Flight 175 and American Airlines Flight 11 into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, and crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon. From the impact of the two flights into the Twin Towers, it resulted in fires and the collapsing of the towers. The Pentagon was severely damaged by the impact of the airline and started a fire amongst the buildings. The final plane where the hijackers took control was on target for Washington D.C. and planned to crash into the White House. Bravely, some passengers of the flight fo

The (Lack of) Connections Between Vaccines and Autism

Michael Fertitta  February 8, 2021 Sophomore Seminar Professor Moloney The Classic "Vaccines Cause Autism" Theory     The theory that vaccines cause Autism is one of, if not the most popular theory surrounding the disability. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a learning disability. As the name suggests, Autism is a spectrum, so often times you may find two people acting very differently from each other, yet both are diagnosed with ASD. It is commonly theorized amongst groups against vaccines that Autism is caused by the ingredients in the vaccines, specifically citing the trace amounts of mercury. The million dollar question for my research is: Can vaccines be connected to Autism at all? I'd like to explore the reasoning for why people think mercury in vaccines affects the brain to the point where a disability is formed.     This is quite the personal issue, as I know some people who think the ingredients in vaccines affect the brain. They didn't necessarily say that
